A Training Day is any kind of formal or informal event where junior handlers are given instruction as to the training and handling of pointing dogs with an emphasis on handling dogs in field trials. If the handlers do not have their own dogs, they are often made available by the club members holding the event. Kids of varying experience may attend such an event and instruction should be geared to each individual’s level. Kids of more experience can be asked to help others of less experience thereby fostering good sportsmanship, an important element in the sport of field trialing. Training Days should be lighthearted and fun for all with kids ending their day or half-day confident and encouraged.
